The lexical complexity of one teacher's classroom talk was analysed using type-token curves and was found to vary in relation to student proficiency level. Complexity of topic, frequency of topic, and repetition for the purposes of clarification, confirmation and emphasis, were also found to have had an effect on this complexity. |
